Possible benefits of social media, recommendations for a way forward, and my own thoughts (delving into the SurgeonGeneral's report on social media and teens (Pt. 3)
Today in the last installment of my dive into the Surgeon General’s advisory on social media, I’ll share three things: 1), the possible benefits the Surgeon General identifies; 2) suggestions for parents; and, 3) suggestions for parents.
I’ll also be sending my own thoughts, reflections, and suggestions soon. I have seen a lot of students over the years and have had to respond to some problems; I’ve also seen some successes. All these experiences have shaped my perspective.
You can read my past installments where I discussed what the Surgeon General feels are the risks (here and here). You can also read the Surgeon General’s whole advisory here, or the shorter summary here.
Please note: I am trying to hit the key points and share this information with busy parents. This is not an exhaustive analysis and I am sharing what jumps out to me.
Also, because this takes a lot of time and effort, I am putting this behind the paywall. If you want to read it but can’t support a yearly subscription, you can always get a month’s subscription for $5.00 and cancel when you have read all the material. That way you all the installments.
